2014 Events Calendar


You are invited to an evening of INSPIRATION and to celebrate the second annual inspiring women’s social group.
We are a group that meets once a month in the winter showcasing different wineries in Essex County and brings together the most incredibly inspiring local ladies to connect, learn, laugh, enjoy a little wine and generally enjoy each other’s company and energy. This is series is for women of all ages, occupations and industries that want to attend.  Allow yourself to question, to blossom, to reinvent and to evolve within this community of like-minded women. Showcase your business, network and expand your community circle.

January’s Guest Speaker – Tracey Rogers, Artist, Shop Owner

$15 per ticket includes: entrance fee, guided wine tasting, light snacks, presentation, on-site parking, door prizes and the opportunity to mix and mingle with like-minded, inspirational women. 

 

Explore winter in EPIC Wine Country for the annual Festival of Ice. Take part in the tradition of cozying up to the crackling fire with a mug of our delicious Warm N Cozy Mulled Wine. Take in the spectacular view of the frozen crests on Lake Erie with complimentary live music and chocolate pairings with our premium wines at Sprucewood Shores Winery.  

Saturday Ray Manzerolle will be jazzing it up for us on Saturday followed one of our old favourites Dan Woods on Sunday.

Shake your winter chill off and enjoy the splendor of the Festival of Ice at any of the participating Wineries in Essex Pelee Island Coast Wine Country.  It is sure to be a fun weekend in the County.

Sprucewood Shores will be serving up a delicious Rosemary Pancetta Mac & Cheese dish for March Mac'ness this Saturday. The tent at Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery will be transformed into a Vintage Spring Garden, capturing the essence of this much awaited season.

Gourmet Gardens is proud to feature Konrad Ejbich, "resident wine expert" on CBC Radio, a columnist for Toronto's insider foodie magazine CityBites, a contributor to Grapevine in the County magazine and U.S. wine magazine Wine Spectator. A certified wine judge, Konrad has adjudicated in France, Germany, Italy, the United States and Canada. Konrad will speak to the food/wine pairings of the afternoon and provide some informative and fun tips on the art of wine tasting.

Other highlights include:

  • A Chef's Reception featuring three locally renowned chefs competing to create pre-lunch appetizers. Guests will choose the winning appetizer, while they enjoy a sampling of Sprucewood's fine vintages.
  • A tantalizing four-course gourmet luncheon prepared by Chef Don Kumarasinghe, paired with Sprucewood Shores' delectable wines.
  • Entertainment will include vocalist Lisette Gagnon accompanied by the Tristan Taylor Trio. Our emcee for the afternoon will be AM800's Lisa Williams.
  • The "Dream Raffle" featuring spectacular prizes, as well as an opportunity to plan for Mother's Day and your spring garden through a fabulous Silent Auction.

Visit Sprucewood Shores EVERY Sunday to enjoy live entertainment on the lawn overlooking beautiful Lake Erie.  New for 2014, all music will be enjoyed on the front lawn to enjoy the incredible views that Sprucewood has to offer! Enjoy delicious food prepared by a different chef every week from 1pm-4pm (various $).  Sip on a glass of wine or our signature sangrias with our delicious picnic basket lunches, and soak in the music and lakefront view.

Sip into Summer  Wine and Herb weekend is back, with the wineries of Essex and Pelee Island Coast featuring a different herb-themed food pairing matching with a premium wine selected to highlight the flavour and aroma of the herb.

Chef Don at 3D Catering will be providing Sprucewood Shores customers a lovely Herbed Chicken and Organic Quinoa with Spiced Yogurt to be paired with a premium wine.  For the cost of $5, enjoy this delicious dish and a free wine tasting of 4 wines.

~A Celebration of Girls~

Mothers and daughters are invited out for an afternoon of pampering and fun.  For just $60/person you get hors d'oeuvres, a "Fancy Lady" wine tasting, "Little Lady" tea & treats, "Strike a Pose" Instagram photo keepsake, fun activities and a fashion show brought to you by Bellalulubaby and Young & Fabulous.

Although we love all things little, activities at this event are recommended for little ladies ages 4 and up. Tickets for toddlers aged 3 and under are $20.

Beach Yoga and wine tour. Join Jayne Cichon owner of Eastside Yoga for a Pop Up Yoga studio. Start off at the beautiful Sprucewood shores on the beach. We will practice and set our intention for the day. Join Jayne as she guides you on  a wine tour of the county doing yoga at each location and then finally returning for Sprucewoods famous Sounds, sips and bites. Class starts at 11:00 and will cost $25 with partial process going to yoga 4 hope. On June 20 and 21, 2014, the Town of Tecumseh Business Improvement Area (BIA) will host their 6th annual two-day premier event held in the beautiful waterfront setting of Lake St. Clair at Lakewood Park South located at 13451 Riverside Dr. E. (at Manning Road) in Tecumseh, Ontario. The Tecumseh BIA focuses on supporting and promoting small and local businesses, beautification and streetscaping which enhances the business and shopping areas in the Town of Tecumseh.

The Art of Eating Food & Wine Festival promises fun for everyone and offers over 24 various wine and a local beer, and food vendors who will be offering delectable and eclectic cuisine from our diverse restaurants here in the Town of Tecumseh and throughout Essex County. To compliment the various food menu we have  along with award-winning wines from Essex County’s finest vineyards and wineries. If you are not sure which wine vendor to stop at, then visit the wine tasting room where you can sample various wines being offered at the festival. While you are enjoying various food, wines and beer, you can sit under a tree or walk around the Park and enjoy the live entertainment that performs during the festival.

At Sprucewood Shores we have live music (free admission), food, wine and sangria will be available throughout the entire day on our patio.

Join EPIC Wineries Sunday August 10th from 1pm – 5pm at Muscedere Vineyards to celebrate the 20th Annual Vintage Tasting!

Taste the best wine and food from our region, along with tasting and pairing seminars and beautiful music. This casual garden party style event is sure to please everyone from the casual wine sipper to the experienced Master Taster!

Tickets are available for purchase at Sprucewood Shores' retail store - $60 each.

Enjoy the sounds of the vintage style hot jazz, swing and pop with the Speakeasy Quartet, outdoors under the shade of our white tents. The Speakeasy Quartet playing "vintage hot jazz and swing of the 1920's and 1930's" with Hugh Leal, guitar; Mike Karoub, cello; Mike Karloff, piano and introducing newest member, clarinet phenomenon Dave Bennett...perform Sunday Aug. 24 at Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery under the big tent...rain or shine.

Advanced admission is $16/ticket and $20 on the day-of.  Picnic Baskets are available for purchase at $26/basket which feeds 2-3 people.  Wine by the glass and sangria are $5 each. Blackjack Gastrovan will be onsite serving up lunch and snacks to enjoy with the food!

You'll experience the Best Culinary Tourism Experience in Ontario as we cycle through the Essex Pelee Island Coast and experience the tastes, sights and sounds of the region. Essex County has some of the best wine in the world and there is no better way to enjoy the surrounding region then by pedaling your way through it. You'll be able to sip the local wine and learn about each award winning winery we visit.

Participants on our Wine Trail Ride visit 2-3 wineries on each ride and are then treated to a local meal made with products from Essex County. Purchases made along the way will be collected and delivered to our final destination.

Our guide and cycling expert will be on hand to show us the way and answer questions. Tickets for Wine Trail Rides sell out quickly so if you are interested, purchase your tickets early.

Each Wine Trail Ride includes tastings, tours and a meal made with local Essex County products. A guide will lead us to each winery and vehicle will collect purchases made along the way and bring them to our final destination.

Sprucewood Shores will be hosting a Holiday Fair every Sunday afternoon, featuring:

  • Local artisans showcasing their wares
  • Live Music (1pm-5pm)
  • A Professional basket wrapper onsite for shoppers to create their own 'Local Gift Baskets'
  • Bring the kids! - Hot chocolate...and for the adults, mulled wine. Bring your own cross-country skis or snowshoes or just walk and explore our nature trail through the vineyard and waterfront. Weather permitting, ice skating on the pond as well.
  • Fire pit on our front patio! Enjoy delicious food and wine by the fire.

Join us for the Annual Taste the Season Holiday soup-off.  Taste a selection of homemade soups, each heart-fully hand crafted by our staff and their families for you to enjoy. 

But don't forget…this is a competition, so make sure to taste them all and choose your favourite for a chance to be the lucky winner of the Holiday Draw.

All that is required to enjoy our tasty soups and free tastings are a donation of a canned or boxed good, or a small monetary donation all of which will be donated to a local food bank

We will also be featuring samples of  Warm 'n Cozy Mulled Wine. This wine is served hot, infused with orange, clove and cinnamon giving it a smell and flavour that can't help but warm you up and put a smile on your face. It is the perfect gift and entertaining beverage for the holiday season!

Tour shops, wineries, restaurants and attractions. Sprucewood will be giving out free samples of gingerbread cookies and our "Warm 'n Cozy" Mulled Wine. Belgian waffles and cheese charcuterie plates are vailable for sale to enjoy with a wine tasting.  You can also vote on your favourite gingerbread house - the winning ballot will receive a brand new gingerbread house professionally done by Lynn Tesolin.
